The Vision
In 2017, the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Collins/Arapaho Task Force led an effort to strengthen the overall economic vitality of the East Collins/Arapaho area and create a “game plan” for private sector investment and supportive City action. A key action item that resulted from the Task Force was to build on the area’s tech roots by creating an innovation district to encourage investment in the area’s economic and physical assets.
In 2018, the City of Richardson commissioned a visioning study which included land use, market, mobility and open space analysis. A unified Vision, Goals and Strategies Plan to set the stage for the next generation of innovation was finalized at the conclusion of the study.
In 2019, implementation of the vision began with new zoning entitlements to maximize development potential and several key infrastructure and mobility projects kicked off. In 2020, The IQ® name was announced and several key studies were conducted.
The Richardson IQ® has been precision-engineered to foster growth, attract and retain talent, and encourage collaboration. Modeled after highly successful projects in Barcelona, Boston and other major cities around the world, the Richardson IQ® is bringing together public and private resources to modernize, revitalize and promote this unique part of Richardson as a prime location to live, work and invent. Pictured below is a rendering of the envisioned Arapaho Center Station area.
