The IQ® Brew: Transportation Broadband with NCTCOG Transportation Planners
This month’s IQ Brew® featured Collin Moffett and Connor Sadro, MPA. Discussing Leveraging Technology for Smart Mobility and Sustainability: NCTCOG’s Freight Optimization and Digital Infrastructure Programs in the DFW Metroplex.
This topic explores two innovative initiatives by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex. The first program focuses on Freight Optimization, utilizing advanced technology and a cloud-based V2X approach to reduce operating costs and emissions for freight vehicles in industrial districts. The IQ® Brew: Dr. Latifur Khan, UT Dallas (Virtual)
On Thursday, January 28, The IQ® Brew featured Dr. Latifur Kahn of UT Dallas who led a team of 20 computer scientists in creating a video game mechanism to detect cheating. Using popular video game Counter-Strike, the researchers created a cheat detection mechanism that can be used in a variety of games. The research is especially important as it has the potential to affect the near $1 billion esports industry. The research was done with funding from the National Science Foundation, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, National Security Agency, IBM, and Hewlett-Packard Development Co.
