The IQ® Brew: Transportation Broadband with NCTCOG Transportation Planners
This month’s IQ Brew® featured Collin Moffett and Connor Sadro, MPA. Discussing Leveraging Technology for Smart Mobility and Sustainability: NCTCOG’s Freight Optimization and Digital Infrastructure Programs in the DFW Metroplex.
This topic explores two innovative initiatives by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex. The first program focuses on Freight Optimization, utilizing advanced technology and a cloud-based V2X approach to reduce operating costs and emissions for freight vehicles in industrial districts. The second program, Digital Infrastructure, aims to enhance access to healthcare, employment, education and other essential services in underserved areas through broadband connectivity and smart transportation infrastructure partnerships with local agencies and telecom providers. These initiatives demonstrate how NCTCOG is at the forefront of promoting efficient, sustainable and equitable mobility solutions in the region.

The IQ® Brew: Dr. Latifur Khan, UT Dallas (Virtual)
On Thursday, January 28, The IQ® Brew featured Dr. Latifur Kahn of UT Dallas who led a team of 20 computer scientists in creating a video game mechanism to detect cheating. Using popular video game Counter-Strike, the researchers created a cheat detection mechanism that can be used in a variety of games. The research is especially important as it has the potential to affect the near $1 billion esports industry. The research was done with funding from the National Science Foundation, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, National Security Agency, IBM, and Hewlett-Packard Development Co.
